this thread is for lego talk. yeah lego.

isn´t it the best toy you ever played with?

if you answer that question with a no... get out of here!

if yes - contribute with anything concerning lego and post it in this thread.

please! i cannot be the only one!

let me start with the lego star wars millenium falcon. i just saw the box when me and my family visited the ´legoland discovery center´ near our town. but i guess i´ll never pull out the 560 € they want for it.

lego maniacs of the world unite!

I was obsessed with Legos as a small lad. I remember entering something I built in a contest once. It won second place, but it was just some castle.

since we are talking about Legos,... I have been looking for a piece of software called Lego Studios. Its been discontinued by Lego for quite some time, but it allowed you to animate mouths and such for videos of Legos. It would be fun to play with

this stuff also came from a contest winner. ´lego space skulls´. it was so popular that lego produced the lego space skulls box.

getting your own lego box... how cool is that?

My 11yr old is into legos and usually I try to support what he likes but damn, I'm tired of spending $40 on a star wars set just to find out he's lost pieces to it within a day. Or worse is I'll be vacuuming under the couch and I end up sucking up a bunch of pieces. Might as well be sucking up money!

Other than that problem, yes, lego's kick ass.

there is a solution to that: as far as i know you can order every single brick separately on the lego webpages. they charge you a fortune per brick and of course there are these big buckets at the legoland discovery center where you can just grab the shit you need. compared to ordering the missing stones separately in the web it is quit cheap. 8 euros for 100 gr. stones (which is about 5 to ten small stones)!

:)

besides: teach your kid to take good care of lego stones. i recently had an old friend visiting me. as we got drunk we decided to build the old lego models from my childhood just to see that almost every model had a missing piece or more. my friend (who is very big and stronger than me) said ´good for you that you are a friend and that i´m not drunk enough otherwise i would kick your fucking ass right now for being such a stupid ass kid!´

Go to Target or Walmart and buy him some of those Rubbermaid plastic file cabinets. Tell him to keep all his Legos in that, sort them by size, color, shape, whatever system he wants. My nephews have 2 or 3 of those and while they do lose pieces on occasion, it prevents them from losing as many as they did before the drawer system.

a good friend bought me this awesome set as a present.

956 pieces of good ole lego fun!

It´s called ´Space Skulls´. The box set was made after the images and ideas of the winner of a lego set building contest. the prize was that lego turned his concept into this lovely box.

Image

i love it...

Any of you tried to "fan edit" your own minifigs? I just found this site on the subject:

http://www.minifigcustoms.com/customs/designs

Whoever designed the Star Trek TNG decals seems to have forgotten about the triangular black stripe right above the belt...

Also, is it just me, or does this set look a whole lot like BttF's Hill Valley?

that´s a great idea. too bad that lego doesn´t buy those ideas and sell respective figurines. i mean there´s definitely a market for a lego vincent vega...

:)

I´m dissapointed! the Hoth rebel base should have been more... much more. but it turns out that the set is exactly about what you see on the box: the hangar doors, the snow speeder, the cannon and 7 (seven!) figurines. the battle for hoth with 7 figurines? i doubt it...

I used to love playing with lego when I was very young, and did my best to re-create whatever I wanted.

In recent years legos have exploded in popularity and formed a cult world of their own. A number of sites are just dedicated to making movies with legos.

Just amazes me, this stuff is great. I am seriously thinking about buying the skull set listed a few posts above

I wish legos like they are now were like this back then. I would have had a field day

update:: I saw this link off the skul buy page. Evidently you can create and purchase a custom lego set of your own. You dl the software from lego and they put it togeher for you check it:

PS the skull set is 99$ not 35
